Inducing Resistance to Freezing and Desiccation in Plants by Decenylsuccinic Acid.
نویسنده
چکیده
Decenylsuccinic acid induces resistance to desiccation, cold, and frost in young bean plants. When decenylsuccinic acid is sprayed on flowering peach, apple, and pear trees, most of the flowers are resistant to a frost of -6 degrees C.

Temperature Dependence of Photosynthesis of Bean Plants as Affected by Decenylsuccinic Acid.
Photosynthesis of most plants decreases rapidly when the leaf temperature drops below 100. In contrast, however, several frost resistant plant species still perform appreciable photosynthesis at temperatures below 50 (8). Vetuhova (14, 15) demonstrated that photosvnthesis at low temperature was related to winter hardiness. When leaves were cooled, she observed a smaller depression of photosynth...
متن کاملEffects of Nitrogen and Pre-Harvest Desiccation on Seed Yield and Oil Quality of Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis L.)
Disadvantages such as indeterminate inflorescence and high seed shattering during ripening are significant restrictions to introduce evening primrose as a commercial medicinal plant. Following to the last works, a pot experiment was conducted to clarify the influence of defoliation before harvest on the seed yield, oil and GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) percentage of evening primrose growing under ...
متن کاملInfluence of decenylsuccinic Acid on water permeability of plant cells.
Decenylsuccinic acid altered permeability to water of epidermal cells of bulb scales of Allium cepa and of the leaf midrib of Rhoeo discolor. Water permeability, as determined by deplasmolysis time measurements, was related to the dose of undissociated decenylsuccinic acid (mm undissociated decenylsuccinic acid x minute). No relationship was found between permeability and total dose of decenyls...
متن کاملEvaluation of freezing tolerance in olive cultivars by stomatal density and freezing stress
Selection of frost tolerant cultivars and understanding the mechanisms of frost hardiness could help to improve freezing resistance in olive plants. Olive cultivars may differ in frost hardiness due to differential survival of specific organs. The aim of this study was to screen different olive cultivars based on their stomatal density and metabolic modifications under cold conditions. The ‘Zar...
متن کاملEffects of gibberellin, abscisic acid and embryo desiccation on normal plantlet regeneration, secondary embryogenesis and callogenesis in microspore culture of Brassica napus L. cv. PF704
Most of the microspore-derived embryos can not regenerate normally in rapeseed. The effects of gibberellins (GA3), abscisic acid (ABA), and embryo desiccation on normal plantlet regeneration were studied. The donor plants were grown in a growth chamber at day/night temperatures of 15/10˚C with a 16/8h photoperiod, respectively. Microspores were isolated from whole buds of 2.5-3.5mm in length, c...
